LISTEN TO A TRACK BY YELLOW LIGHT GO...
Yellow Light
Go!, hailing from Baton Rouge, LA, was formed
in the winter of 2004. What started out as the random
musical ideas left over from a previous, now defunct
band turned into actual songwriting sessions between
long-time friends Chris Jessup and Joshua Nee. The
two began an on-the-side musical endeavor with Baton
Rouge drumming veteran Joey Breland (Chris Leblanc
Band, Warbabies, Mike Pinter 4) and feverishly began
churning out the songs that would become the core
of Yellow Light Go! sets. Nee's roomate, guitarist
Spencer Johnson, joined son thereafter and the newly
founded quartet was on its way, playing shows to very
responsive crowds around Baton Rouge. A slight roster
change saw local jazz drummer phenom Jonathan Grimes
replace Breland behind the drums, and the lineup was
complete. Since completion, Yellow Light Go!
has performed with bands such as Liquid Sand, Common
Curtis, The Terms, and has been scouted by both Geffen
and Epic Records.
With the personal inflections of each member's distinct
musical stylings evident in each song, Yellow Light
Go! offers a fresh look at pop rock. While one
song resembles At the Drive-In, the next may be reminiscent
of Guster. Defying any kind of all-emcompassing classification,
Yellow Light Go!'s sound remains a curious,
fresh one, prompting music listeners and fellow musicians
to admit they've never really heard anything quite
like it.
