ARTIST BIO

aquabeet
owner : amy volchok

Amy Volchock has been an artist for as long as she can remember. Although she now makes and sells sterling silver jewelry, she has worked with many different mediums such as papier-mache, painted furniture and quiltmaking. She also designs and constructs greeting cards & wedding invitations, and produces graphic art.

There are always several art projects brewing in Amy's house. She says, "The way I see it is that there's always something new to learn, construct, assemble, design or redesign."

Curious as to how Amy makes her Aquabeet jewelry? All of her jewelry is made of sterling silver, individually by hand, by Amy, herself. They are first cut from a piece of sterling silver sheet or wire; Then hammered, drilled, stamped, sanded and oxidized. The final step is to brush and polish, and no two are exactly alike. Marks and dings in the silver are an inherent part of the process and give each piece it's own unique handwrought feel. A little silver polish will keep them gorgeous forever! Every piece comes with a story/info card, and Amy's wish is that each piece of jewelry spreads inspiration, love and laughs.

Amy proclaims that she can't imagine doing anything else, and says, "always remember......ART IS ESSENTIAL."
