Interview with owner, C.

1. When did you start crafting?
I started seriously crafting/arting around the time I was in middle school. I used to take tons of art classes throughout school, and I would sign up for craft classes at the local library on weekends. I rememeber making picture frames, wreaths, paintings, and a bunch of other goodies, some of which I still have today! It was always something that was built in to me; whether it be a collage, a painting, a character, a dance...I've always loved to create!

2. What made you want to sell your crafts or others?
I actually got the idea to start selling art indirectly from my friends. I've grown up in the arts (I was also a performance major in college), so I've been surrounded by many like-minded people for years. I had a lot of very creative friends that would passionately study art in school, and upon graduating, didn't have access to exposing their works that they once had. It occured to me that this was probably an issue for a lot of artists; and I wanted to create a place where they would be able to gain exposure, and hopefully would encourage them to keep on creating.

3. When did you open shop?
my bonnie & clyde officially opened in January of 2006. The company has grown more and more every single month, by at least doubling the prior month's sales. I keep my fingers crossed that it will continue to grow, with more artists, and more patrons. I like to think of it as something that helps make the world a little bit more beautiful of a place.

4. What is your favorite item right now?
Hmm...my favorite item in the shop right now? Honestly, it would have to one of Amanda Rogers' cds. I can't get her albums off of repeated rotation in my Ipod. From the first second that she strikes her piano keys, and softly serenades, you realize that this 20-something woman has a gift that is inexplicable.

5. How would you describe your shop?
That's easy! my bonnie & clyde is a home for indie artists & designers. Beautiful things happen here...just wait and see.
